We love our volunteers! At the Museum we have around 100 volunteers each year who help out with programming, maintain exhibits, assist our visitors, and more. Please see our Volunteer Policy. If you are eligible and would like to help out, please contact Presley Kilgore at (832) 307-0290.
Eligibility
● Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.
● Volunteers under 18 must have a signed parental/guardian consent form.
● Volunteers must complete a volunteer application and provide at least one reference.
Background Checks
● Volunteers aged 18 and older are required to undergo a criminal background check.
Volunteers under 18 may be subject to reference checks in lieu of background checks.
Scheduling & Commitment
● Shifts must be scheduled in advance. Any cancellations should be communicated as soon as possible.
Roles & Responsibilities
● Volunteers may assist with programs, events, administrative support, and guest services.
● Volunteers must follow all staff instructions and organizational policies.
Certain roles may require additional training.
Code of Conduct
● Volunteers are expected to be respectful, professional, and represent the organization positively.
● No use of inappropriate language, harassment, or disruptive behavior will be tolerated.
● Volunteers must dress appropriately for their assigned roles.
Safety
● Volunteers must follow all safety protocols and immediately report accidents or unsafe conditions.
● Volunteers may not be left alone with children.
Dismissal
● The organization reserves the right to dismiss any volunteer whose behavior is inconsistent with this policy.
