Thinking Beyond the Classroom
-
Facilitator: Tracy Marshall, M.Ed. Gifted Ed, Retired DPISD Gifted Specialist
My name is Tracy Marshall. I am a newly retired teacher of 28 years from Deer Park ISD where I was the Gifted Specialist, teaching and assessing students in kindergarten through 5th grade. Five years ago, we moved to Beach City where my children and grandchildren also live. I am excited to offer classes in this area and become more involved with the community.
In the gifted program, we focus on critical thinking, creativity, logic, and reasoning. I have witnessed the growth in childrenās thinking skills when focusing on these areas and would love to continue to teach the fun activities that strengthen these skills.
I started a chess club consisting of 100 students at the elementary campus 10 years ago. Each year my students competed in regional tournaments. Seeing childrenās spatial reasoning and critical thinking develop through a fun game has been rewarding. The popularity of chess is on the rise!
I received my B.S in Elementary Education from The University of Houston; my Masters in Gifted Education and M.Ed. Texas State Certification in Administration/Principalship from The University of St. Thomas.
I look forward to working with your child! For more information, contact: [email protected], 713.822.6997
